Trinity Lutheran Church (Bloomington, IL) began participating in Kenya vision mission trips in 2009 after a pastor and lay leader attended a missions conference at Salem Lutheran Church. In November 2009, 10 Trinity members formed two teams that joined members from Texas churches. Both teams had rewarding experiences working with Kenyans. We’ve continued this outreach for over 15 years and look forward to ongoing partnership with Kenya and Salem.

In 2008 Salem Lutheran invited Trinity-Klein on a Kenya mission using the Great Commandment/Great Commission model. After one trip the vision took hold; with congregational support we’ve returned to Kenya ever since. God has blessed the program and its outreach both there and at home.

Trinity Klein invited Memorial and Katy to work in Kenya. No seminary or language study was required—just willingness to serve. Hundreds came to clinics where eye care and the Gospel met real needs. We began with two trips a year. Each clinic increased respect for Kenyans and sparked mission interest in the congregation. Those who went were supported by those who couldn’t. Within a few years, Memorial moved from guest missionaries to a mentoring congregation.
